Decent for the price. My arm got a little tired from holding it but great for a fun gadget.
I needed a new metal detector because the battery holder in my old trusty one finally blew a trace.
This one’s way, WAY lighter, uses half the 9V battery count, and seems to function just as well as my old one, minus the fact this one does not have a ground balance capability. Perhaps it can auto-balance itself as part of its boot-up cycle, I do not know.
It definitely discriminates between the rebar in my foundation and the titanium in my leg, and identifies each properly (the titanium IDs as jewelry.) The unit is pretty easy to assemble, it’s all pressure clips and poles. However, because of that, the build quality suffers, as it is easy to accidentally engage those locks and things fall apart when that happens.
Overall, it’s a good value, cheap metal detector that will find you some stuff. I wish it had a constant tone function, like old metal detectors had, so you could pick up on ground mineralization and find ore-bearing spots (this is purely for picking up metals and discriminates out mineralized stuff as best as I can tell.) Snag one!
Used this to find my property line makers and saved myself the $750 finders fee. Now the kid can play with it or whatever. Works well.
